The Tim Malloys
"Distilling traditional
Irish music into a flavor true to our distinct musical influences."
The Tim Malloys were
founded in 1994 and over the years have warmed a high stool in the Irish
crossover genre. The Tim Malloys transport their listeners with a unique fusion
of Irish and Scottish music with decades of their local Minneapolis/Saint Paul
crossroads sensibilities. This Twin Cities' gem is an underground Irish
bootlegger's dream, boiling down traditional Irish music into a potent electric
Clash-meets-Suburbs mash-up of punk guitar, Roma rhythms, and manic grooves.
We are Minnesota
musicians inspired by the Celtic music found abroad and in the pubs and clubs
of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. We are influenced by the rich musical heritage
that the Twin Cities fosters and we openly allow those sensibilities to enter
into our music. We enjoy finding old Celtic music that has been forgotten, not played
anymore, or lost, and re-present those tunes, melodies and lyrics through our
own unique musical lens
On their most recent
album, the band journeys into uncharted territory, leaving history in its wake.
The 2011 release, WAKE, is a 13-song odyssey from home to hell and back again,
a rollicking, roiling journey of love, loss, and redemption. WAKE is a successful
distillation of traditional Irish music into a potent electric distillate of
punk guitar and manic grooves stirred up by the spirits of Joe Strummer and
Bruce Allen.
