Shaun Daniel
Singer Songwriter, Acoustic, Folk, Anti-folk, Americana
Shaun Daniel is a singer-songwriter whose style shies from easy genre classification, though much of his music is anchored in acoustic folk rock and Americana. Constantly exploring musical possibilities, Shaun pairs solid guitar-playing and intelligent lyrics with dynamic, multi-octave vocals marked by a bluesy tenor and ethereal falsetto.
365 Music Project ranked him #8 in the "Top 10 Local Twin Cities Musicians to Watch in 2012." Other recent successes have included headlining a summer festival in his hometown in Washington, and showcasing in Portland, OR and Minneapolis as part of RAW Natural Born Artists. Because of this latter performance and a growing fan base, he was chosen as one of five nominees for RAW Minneapolis's Musician of the Year.
These successes have come quickly, given that Shaun came to Minneapolis in August 2011 by way of the Columbia Highlands of northeastern Washington State and the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon, where he had developed his sound over several years playing in coffeehouses, pubs, warehouses, barns, and festivals throughout the Northwest.
Now in the Twin Cities, Shaun is currently performing as a solo artist, though he has been involved in several bands in the past (from jazz to hard rock to reggae) and has shared the bill with such artists as Finn Riggins, Jared Mees and the Grown Children, Mayda, Postina, Hillfolk Noir, Clocks and Clouds, Sons of Guns, Amanda Rundquist, Matt Yetter, Neal Swanger, Sasha Mercedes, and Brady Perl.
In April 2011 he independently released a live album entitled, "Small Town Live," which showcases his music in unadulterated form and is available through many digital distributors (iTunes, Amazon), PayPal or at his shows. He is currently writing new songs and working towards a self-produced studio album.
