Musical Art Quintet

Chamber, Latin, Instrumental, Classical

The Musical Art Quintet was formed in 2008 as part of the Classical Revolution organization. It's members developed their camaraderie while performing for Classical Rev events around San Francisco.

The Musical Art Quintet is made up of 5 of the most energetic and talented string players in the SF Bay Area. The repertoire for the quintet consists of original pieces and arrangements written by bassist Sascha Jacobsen. The Quintet has cemented it's status as a top notch string ensemble with recent recordings with the Nuevo Flamenco guitarist, Stevan Pasero (Twelve Shades of Night, 2010, Sugo records) and with the Argentine Tango group, Trio Garufa (El Rumor de tus Tangos, 2010, Garufa records). The Debut recording for the quintet's own material is scheduled to be released in Fall 2011 on the Classical Revolution Presents label.

The Musical Art Quintet has performed at the Legion of Honor Museum, Coda Supper Club, California Academy of Sciences, Cafe du Nord, Red Poppy Art House, DeYoung Museum and many other venues. The music and forms played by the Musical Art Quintet are all based in Rhythm and dance; whether it is Afro-Cuban, Argentine Tango, or even Funk or Electronica. Much like J.S. Bach based his suites on dance forms like the Gigue or Sarabande, the music of the Quintet always remains rooted in rhythm and dance.

The Musical Art Quintet is:
Anthony Blea - Violin
Jory Fankuchen - Violin
Charith Premawardhana - Viola
Shain Carrasco - Cello
Sasha Jacobsen - String Bass
