Conspiracy of Venus
Conspiracy of Venus (CoV) is a diverse women's community activist a cappella group based in San Francisco. Under the artistic direction of Joyce Todd McBride, the ensemble is being hailed as a groundbreaking musical experience--who can argue with 40 women taking the stage and singing their hearts out? McBride's daring and inventive arrangements and their dazzling rendition by the singers offer a unique take on songs ranging from the classic (Joni Mitchell's “Big Yellow Taxi”) to the cutting-edge (Bjork's “Possibly Maybe”). Their repertoire also includes works by Bill Withers, Rufus Wainwright, Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, and Roger Miller. Conspiracy of Venus has played to sold out crowds in some of the best venues of the city, including Palace of Fine Arts, one of San Francisco’s most impressive venues. The choir is unlike anything you’ve ever experienced before in a rock and roll “band”!
