Chiefs of the North
A bi-product of numerous, now-defunct bands around the Twin Cities, Chiefs Of The North have expertly melded each one of the member's musical talents into a real-life rock and roll monster. What they bring to the table song after song is a wall o...f sound, rich with vintage undertones thanks, no doubt, to guitarist Justin Collins' bluesy, 70's guitar-god sound- and a belly full of soul accentuated by singer/guitar player Tony Metcalf's clever lyrical prowess, and his ability to connect with the audience through his heart-felt, melodic delivery. Drummer Tommy Busch delivers the hard, driving force that is the foundation of Chiefs of the North. His craftiness and precise rhythms bring the live energy that has to be witnessed to be fully appreciated. Rounding out the rhythm section is tone-heathen Tom Laing playing bass guitar. Always holding rock-steady on the bass line, this man anchors the band in the groove with his infectious style and sound. Only to find the cherry-on-top, Chris Brown, adding sugar and spice to every song with his multitude of sounds courtesy of his keyboard and guitar duties for the band. With the melodies he offers, the sound could never be the same absent of his presence.
The bottom line with Chiefs of the North is their love for rock and roll. See them once whether live or even just jamming in their practice space- and you will see what rock and roll was founded on: Emotion and Presence. You will always leave a Chiefs show wanting more; every member in a blurred gyration of guitars, bodies, drumsticks, sweat, and creative expression, you know these guys give 110% every time they play. This is unadulterated rock and roll at its finest.
