John Rogers
My music springs from the American oral tradition. It is the intersection of words and music, the songs and stories of ordinary people. Some of the music I write myself; most comes from that most fundamental strain of American music, the blues. I have been a regular solo acoustic performer in North Florida for nearly a decade. I have spoken and performed my "Roots of American Music" for audiences from the Asia Society to the National Speakers Association, and my program "Finding the Music in your Voice" for writers is under development. I have performed a program called Blues in the Schools (as part of the Blues Foundation) for over 2,500 elementary and high school students. I am now calling Minnesota home. Check out my CDs and liner notes and link to MySpace for a performance schedule on the Music page. Sample a performance of "Roots" at the performance page. Get a sample of the 3 curriculums of Blues in the Schools on the schools page. See current notes on my Facebook page.
