Jazz by Fosse exposes a variety of faces of the group. A Basie influenced quintet, ballads via the quartet, and the piano/bass duo. Centerpiece had never been performed by the group prior to the recording session. Eric and John warmed up on the riff and we decided to do the tune. The outcome was a pleasant suprise for all of us.
