(0 reviews)The core of the group is T. Griffin and Catherine McRae. Additional members include Bruce Cawdron (godspeed you! black emperor), Dennis Cronin (Lambchop, Vitamin-D), Frank Heer (Melomane, Bingo Palace), and Jeff Federson (Zaftig).
Live, they use a small army of lo-fi loopers, toy samplers and walkmen to augment their acoustic instruments and recreate some of the deep sonic atmosphere from their recordings. All the loops are put together live and the audience watches a series of scrapes, thuds, distant train sounds and melodic snippets played over a walkman suddenly coalesce into the foundation of one of Griffin's haunted songs.
All performances include T. Griffin and Catherine McRae and their landscape of samples and loops -- it's a duet with the force of a large, otherworldly band. Full band shows add horns, more strings and drums by the inimitable Bruce Cawdron to create a large band with the force of an orchestra.
