Slighted

(0 reviews)
Slighted is an aggressive modern rock band, described as alternative metal by mp3.com. The band was fully-formed in the fall of 2000 with the addition of its vocalist, Joshua Larson. The combination of this fresh element with the long time collaboration of the rest of the band results in a tight, powerful sound.

In February 2001, Slighted recorded a three-song demo, now available for download on mp3.com. In their first week online, Slighted had more than 200 hits and all three songs made the top ten in its local charts. Slighted has played several local shows since coming together with a favorable response from their audiences. Previous Twin-Cities venues include: Sharky's Underground and Bon Appetit.

Joshua Larson: Drawing from a number of choirs and jazz groups, including the University of Minnesota's Concert Choir, Joshua has honed a unique and inviting form of singing. Slighted is his first all-original act. Joshua will be graduating from the U of M in 2001 with a degree in philosophy. He sees Slighted as a force for social change. Some of his influences are: Ozzy Osbourne, Peter Steele, Nina Simone, and Robert Plant.

Brian Cooper: At age eight, Brian started his music career by learning the cello. In high school, Brian played in jazz band for three years. He also played bass in a rock group outside of school. In his senior year, he joined with Chris and Tim to form Thirdstone. While attending college at the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, he took music education classes. During this time he was playing for Thirdstone and a side project, Mr. Pogo. After college, Thirdstone disbanded. Brian then played with Anshar, a metal band, for a short while prior to moving to Minneapolis. A few of his greatest influences are: John Paul Jones, Geddy Lee, and Geezer Butler.

Chris: Chris got his first guitar at age six. At that time, he polished it more than played it. When he was 11, he inherited his father's 1967 Gibson SG and co-formed Monument, performing a mixture of cover and original material. Monument played clubs in Madison, Wisconsin, and numerous totally legal house parties. In 1991 they recorded their first release, Be Slayin' Ya!. Shortly after that release, Chris felt it was time to expand his writing and started composing songs with Tim and Brian in Thirdstone. Two releases later, Chris decided Minneapolis was calling. Upon arrival, he knew that he had to convince Brian and Tim to follow him and form a new band. After auditioning several vocalists, they found Josh, and things began to click. Among Chris

..they're talented, and damn determined. But the best part will be seeing this tight, darkly melodic quartet perform the songs live.......
