Akai is an indie rock band based in Saint Paul, MN. Sprouting from the efforts of two of it's core members in 2000, in early 2005 they began to record their songs with full instrumentation, which by 2006 grew into their first full-length album entitled Pretty Songs About Ugly Things. Today Akai draws on the talents of up to 10 musicians for live support, playing mandolin, glockenspiel, flute, clarinet, trumpet, synth, bass, electric guitar, percussion, accordion and banjo.
