Welmore Mile
Welmore Mile: A harmony-filled, acoustic pop/rock sound that is warm and immediate.
Peter Welle and Jon Gilmore began playing and writing music together in the summer of 2000. Informed by Peter's love of melodic craftsmen like the Beatles and U2, and Jon's taste for rhythmic songwriters like Dave Matthews and John Mayer, the music Peter and Jon made together proved to be charged and immediate.
Performing as Ashes for Beauty, they spent the next two years writing songs and refining their live shows. Before long, their shows grew into the bright, funny, and poignant acoustic pop/rock performances that they are today.
In the spring of 2003 they entered the studio with producer John Hermanson (Alva Star, Storyhill, Brenda Weiler) to begin work on their debut album Choices Collide. Recording on and off throughout that summer, they explored sounds and pushed the acoustic boundaries of their music into realms of rock, alt-country, and beyond.
Emerging from the studio in the fall of 2003, Peter and Jon changed their name to Welmore Mile. This new name, referencing their shared past, was evocative of both their new sound and their maturing lyrical themes.
Welmore Mile are currently touring Minnesota and the Upper Midwest in support of Choices Collide.
