Yulestride Holiday Concert is Butch Thompsons solo piano presentation of an exciting repertoire of New Orleans inspired music ranging from 1920s style classics to blues to spirituals. Under Thompsons hands, the holiday repertoire gets a respectful, fresh reading, from the blues-inected Away in a Manger to the roaring stride of It Came Upon a Midnight Clear. This popular concert also includes Thompsons distinctive arrangements of Jingle Bells, Silent Night, Deck the Halls, as well as such vintage material as Ted Shapiros Winter Weather and Charlie Straights Santa Claus Blues. The title, Yulestride, is a pun based on the term stride piano, used to describe the two-handed style which is the main ingredient of Thompsons playing. The concert will be recorded for a later holiday broadcast on KBEM.
Welcome The Oarsman's return to Minneapolis, supported by local electric folk group William Within.
The Oarsman is the Chicago-based project of Marcus Christopher Maloney, formerly of Honest Engines and Many Places. With comparisons to artists like Tallest Man on Earth and Jake Bugg, the group maintains a traditional folk sound blended with smooth and colorful electric elements. After learning how to sing, and beginning to write his own songs only last summer, Maloney has molded The Oarsman into a momentous and dynamic group that has been featured on NPR's "The Morning Shift", Daytrotter, Hardwick Sessions, Brooklyn Vegan, and has toured the U.S. Having sustained all this publicity on an EP of his first demos and a live-to-track second EP of himself and his guitar, Maloney recently releasing his debut full-length, full-band album Writing House on September 24, 2013. Hear it at theoarsman.bandcamp.com
Formerly the solo project of Alexander Simpson, William Within is now an electric folk band based in Minneapolis. The band is currently performing songs from its debut full-band album as well as songs from their forthcoming EP. Since forming in September 2011, WW has opened for national touring acts Tilly and the Wall and Peter Wolf Crier, starred in Radio K's first-ever Tiny Music Fest and released their debut album to a sold out crowd at the now closed 400 Bar. The band is: Alexander Simpson, Derek Rohlf, Tom Steffes, Matt Blake and Toby Ramaswamy (some horns players joining them from time to time). Hear their debut full-length at williamwithin.bandcamp.com

Fabulous vocalist, Sarah Greer and her trio take over The Piano Lounge for a great night of tunes from jazz to pop. There aren't many piano bars left ... so stop in and experience the incredibly fun time, the fabulous martinis and the folks who gather 'round to sing along, request a song and enjoy the "back room".
There is a parking lot on the west side of the building ... enter from University Avenue or the alley.
They hope to see you there!

Award winning Husband/Wife Duet Chuck and Sandi Millar
MN 3 time Flackpicking Champion - Clint Birtzer
Mulit-talented instrumental on mandolin - Mike Hedding
Rock solid bass player - Vaughn Asslestine
Special guest - David Robinson for Monroe Crossins
"Having written numerous songs, his persona and style thinly veil a depth of comprehension not often found amongst the average musician. Songs first thought to be catchy soon become wrought with thematic complexities. Release from which only to be found in understanding the musician/poet for what they have always been - portals into distant yet familiar realms of thought and possibility."

The Split-Shot Sinkers play roots, bluegrass, old-time and original music in the Twin Cities. Influenced by eclectic artists ranging from The Grateful Dead to Pink Floyd to Doc Watson, the Split-Shot Sinkers inject an enjoyable, laid-back groove into traditional music. Members include two-thirds of the legendary power trio TresMoto: Bob Doe (guitar) and Chris Boone (mandolin). This latest project -- also a trio -- introduces Leif Sjostrom on bass.

White DadsYours TrulyThe Turnups
Created from immaculate conception and born out of wedlock, White Dads met in a forest before a large storm, it was here that they developed photosynthesis and also their distinct hip shaking "sound". Legend has it, it was White Dads who first combined #Rock music with their new experimental "Roll" sound into one musical genre.
Their paternal music has become a cross-sibling success story - even gracing the cover of www.Facebook.com/WhiteDads
"Their music is filled with passion, healing, and love. I am loving this new Sound."
