I never thought about doing something like this, until i heard Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation, Arneson explains. Here were two guys -- Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis -- writing music from the perspective of Janet Jackson, who's a woman. I thought that would be a good creative challenge. They filled up every nook and cranny of space, with sounds and samples flying around. I thought that was very cool. My album is kinda like putting that concept on top of some hip Steely Dan chords. It's a combination of two elements - that busy Jam & Lewis-style production, with the killer drum machine sounds and other Flyte-Time-y stuff, plus some Jazzy Steely chords underneath.
